Tom Hanks-5-1024x767Hanks was reunited with Ron Howard in his next part, playing the Commander and Astronaut Jim Lovell in Apollo 13 (1995). The film was widely lauded by critics, as well as the performance of the entire team (which comprised Kevin Bacon and Bill Paxton, Gary Sinise and Ed Harris), and Kathleen Quinlan. The film was nominated for nine Academy Award nominations and won two. Hanks was the voice of Sheriff Woody in Disney/Pixar's 1995 computer-animated feature Toy Story (1995). His directorial debut came a year later with the film You Do! (1996) which follows the rise and decline of a 1960s pop group, also playing the part of a music producer. Time magazine's Richard Schickel described his performance as "charming" and the majority of reviewers agreed that Hanks' portrayal made him one of the top romantic comedy actors of his time.
